Email Inbox Interface Configuration
The Email Inbox interface enables your agent to automatically receive and respond to emails sent to a dedicated address. This creates an email-based conversational interface for your agent.
Key Features
Email Processing
- Dedicated Email Address: Get a unique email address for your agent
- Automatic Processing: Agent automatically processes incoming emails
- Email Actions: Configure how your agent responds to different types of emails
Response Management
- Reply Options: Configure automatic replies, reply-all, forward, or no response
- Domain Restrictions: Limit email processing to specific authorized domains
- Content Filtering: Process emails based on content, sender, or other criteria
Configuration Steps
Access the interfaces panel by either:
- Clicking the ellipsis (…) menu to the right of your Agent and selecting Interfaces
- Opening the Agent in Studio and clicking Settings > Interfaces
In the interfaces panel:
- Click + Add Interface if this is a new interface
- Select Email Inbox from the available interface types
- Or click the edit icon next to an existing Email Inbox interface to modify its configuration
Configure the following settings for your Email Inbox interface:

Agent Email Address
Your agent will be assigned a unique email address for receiving messages. -
Email Actions
Choose how your agent responds to emails:
Reply: Send a direct response to the sender
Reply All: Include all recipients in the response
Forward: Forward processed emails to another address
No Email: Process but don't send email responses -
Domain Restrictions
Configure which domains are authorized to send emails to your agent. -
Authorized Domains
Add specific domains (e.g., yourcompany.com) that can interact with your agent via email. -
Content Processing
Configure how your agent processes different types of email content (text, attachments, etc.).
Click Save to activate your Email Inbox interface. Your agent will begin processing emails sent to its assigned address.
Make note of your agent's email address to share with users who should be able to interact with it via email.
Managing Email Interactions
Email Address Management
- Copy Email Address: Easily copy your agent's email address to share with users
- Address Format: Email addresses typically follow the pattern:
[email protected] - Address Sharing: Share the email address with authorized users or systems
Monitoring Email Activity
- Incoming Email Tracking: Monitor emails received by your agent
- Response Tracking: Track which emails your agent has responded to
- Processing Logs: Review how your agent processed different email types
Best Practices
- Clear Instructions: Provide users with clear instructions on how to interact with your agent via email
- Domain Security: Use domain restrictions to prevent unauthorized access
- Response Testing: Test your agent's email responses to ensure they're appropriate
- Regular Monitoring: Check email logs regularly to ensure proper operation
