External Agent
Add a single AI agent to your inventory by hand — the catch-all for agents no connector picks up.
Some agents have no automatic connector. Maybe it's a vendor's agent, or one your team built in-house. You still want it governed. External Agent lets you add that one agent by hand, by registering a credential for it, so you can classify, own, and govern it alongside everything else.

Before you start
Have the agent's details ready:
- A credential name — a label you'll recognize, for example
Vendor support bot. - The agent's credentials — its API secret, or the email and password used to access it, whichever the agent uses.
One agent at a time. This form adds a single agent. To add many at once, use Bulk Import Agents instead. Either way there is no syncing — a manual entry won't update on its own, so edit it by hand if the agent changes.
Setup
External Agent happens entirely inside Airia. There is no outside system to connect — you fill in a short form.
Open the External Agent form
- In Airia, go to Discover → Connect.
- Click the External Agent tile to open the add-agent form.
Fill in the form
The form creates a credential for the agent.

Fill in the credential type the agent actually uses.
Save
Click Add Agent. The agent is added to your inventory.
Verify it worked
Your new agent appears under Discover → Inventory → External agents.
Troubleshooting

| Add Agent is greyed out | Fill in the required fields — the credential name plus at least one credential (API secret, or email and password). |
| The agent isn't in the inventory | Refresh Discover → Inventory → External agents. If it's still missing, re-open the form and save again. |
| The details are wrong | Open the agent in Discover → Inventory → External agents and edit it by hand. There's no automatic sync to fix it for you. |
| I have many agents to add | Use Bulk Import Agents instead of adding them one by one. |

How often it syncs
On-demand. Nothing runs in the background — the entry updates only when you add or edit it. If the agent changes, update it by hand.
What you can do
Discover — vendor and home-built agents with no automatic connector are still visible in your inventory, not a blind spot.
Govern — the agent is inventoried like any other, so you can classify it, assign an owner, score its risk, and track it in governance use cases.
Adding an agent here does not secure it. External Agent records the agent in your inventory for governance; it applies no runtime controls. To secure the agent, route its traffic through the Airia AI Gateway.
